TRANSLATION OF WRITE-UP IN ENGLISH - If a person’s mind gets attracted towards Srimad Bhagwatam, one must understand that it is only by virtue of the virtuous deeds performed in his previous birth. In other words this means that without the noble deeds in previous birth(s) one cannot receive the blessings of Srimad Bhagwatam in this present day life. This shows how remarkable and rare this SriGranth (Srimad Bhagwatam) is, the ultimate conclusion of the principles of the Bhagwat (LORD's principle), the prime & prevalence reason to please the Lord and to increase the flow of devotion.

GIST FOR PEOPLE OF ALL RELIGION
  1. If someone feels inclined to read a Holy Test (of any religion), it is the result & reward of noble deeds performed in many previous births. The inclination to read the Holy Test is therefore very rare and the person having such inclination are truly blessed.
  2. Holy Test is truly divine & ultimate treasure chest.

TRANSLATION OF WRITE-UP IN ENGLISH - When in Kaliyug (the present period, the last of the four cycles as per Hindu mythology) Devi Bhakti (Devotion) asked Devershi Naradji about the ill-fortune of her two sons, namely Knowledge & Recluse, this reply was given. With a desire for materialistic things (falling prey to illusion) neither virtuous knowledge does erupt, nor recklessness would work (on the opposite, we tend to go on accumulating day by day). When no knowledge or recluse comes in our life, their mother Bhakti (Devotion) also eludes us in our life.

In this Kaliyug, bakthi (devotion) is a tool to achieve self fulfillment and hence this is not the virtuous devotion. Virtuous Devotion must be devoid of any self seeking. Virtuous devotion is regularized in daily form (it is not at the times of need and forgetting thereafter). With virtuous bakthi the LORD comes closer to us. With selfish devotion we may prosper and may get desired wealth etc., but in the eyes of the AlMIGHTY these are nothing but just mud. If we ask the ALMIGHTY for mud HE lets us take what we want. But with the strength of virtuous devotion the ALMIGHTY becomes one with HIS devotee and stands by HIS devotee. HE comes running bare-feeted to help HIS devotee (Prahladhji , Draupadiji), HE gets ready to barter HIMSELF for HIS devotee (Narsiji), HE holds HIS devotee in higher esteem than HIMSELF (Sudamaji).

GIST FOR PEOPLE OF ALL RELIGION
  1. Knowledge and Reclusiveness must come in life for Devotion to come.
  2. Only Virtuous devotion pleases LORD. Devotion for self-fulfillment is a very poor replica.

TRANSLATION OF WRITE-UP IN ENGLISH - Explaining the greatness of devotion Devershi Naradji said that Knowledge and Reclusiveness had been a path for Mukti (Salvation) in the Satayug, Tretayug and Dwaparyug (the first three cycles as per Hindu mythology) . “Knowledge” meaning Spiritual knowledge of Vedas, Vedant and many Shastra lead us to attain Mukti through the path of knowledge. “Reclusiveness” means attaining Mukti through shredding the social life, settling amidst loneliness in penance on a hillock.

Both these paths are difficult, though, in Kalikaal (the present period, the last of the four cycles as per Hindu mythology), devotion for LORD alone is the easiest & the only source to attain Moksha (Salvation). It is for this reason, that Raja Parikshit Ji despite finding Kalikaal devoid of any substance left it considering this privilege to be a very powerful substance in itself .

GIST FOR PEOPLE OF ALL RELIGION
  1. In the present period, devotion towards ALMIGHTY GOD is the one & only path that will lead to Salvation. It is the easiest of the many paths and therefore we must consider ourself blessed to be born in this era.

TRANSLATION OF WRITE-UP IN ENGLISH - Devershi SriNaradji had disclosed a secret to Devi Bhakti. The Almighty had made Bakthi (devotion) a source for the attainment of Mukti (Salvation). The rule laid down by the Lord is that, during Kalikaal (the present period, the last of the four cycles as per Hindu mythology) Salvation can only be attained through devotion. Knowledge and Reclusiveness are considered to be two sons of Devi Bhakti as laid down by the Lord. During Satyug, Tretayug and Dwaparyug one had to strive hard to get Knowledge and Reclusiveness , but the same is easily accomplished by Bakti Marg in this Kalikaal. The reason being, once Devi Bhakti enters into one’s soul, it is accompanied by both her sons Knowledge and Reclusiveness . Mukti (Salvation) also comes along with her in the form of a servant.

Here one must remember a story narrated by the saints. We must understand the story with some changes. In a royal palace of a king, GOD dwelt with HIS divine qualities. As the king indulged in some wrong doings the divine qualities like fame, prosperity etc. started leaving him. The King did not stop anyone from going. At the end, when the LORD wanted to go, the king fell at the feet of the Lord and was in real tears. The Lord agreed and stayed with the King. All the divine qualities which left the king started coming back to him, one by one, on their own. It was so because they were all like the shadows of the Lord. Wherever the Lord dwells, these divine qualities also dwell.

Likewise if we walk on the devotional path , Knowledge and Reclusiveness will automatically come in our lifetime and in the end we will get salvation. This is my Lord ShriHari’s eternal rule which is reflected in the following verse of Shrimad Bhagwatji.

GIST FOR PEOPLE OF ALL RELIGION
  1. If we keep our devotion towards LORD intact, everything else will automatically fall into place. This principle is defined here in Shrimad Bhagwatji’s verse.

TRANSLATION OF WRITE-UP IN ENGLISH - Maxim of Devarsi ShriNaradji (who is very close to the LORD) is that in whosoever’s heart Bhakti (Devotion) resides, those purified men will never have to face Yamaraja (the GOD of Hell). We must focus on three words of the saying.

(First Word) Continuous Bhakti (Devotion) – Not the type which is done at times of necessity and then forgetting it.

(Second Word) Devotion with purified heart – Devotion done with unpurified heart, that is for the affection or hatred of someone, yearning for something, to fulfill one’s desire , gives the desired result but because it is done for selfish motives, such devotion is not beneficial. Here devotion means continuous and unselfish devotion.

(Third Word) The one who is devoted to the Lord in such a way, even in his dreams, will never have to encounter the Hell. (i.e, leave aside going to Hell in reality, he will never see the Hell in his dreams.)

TRANSLATION OF WRITE-UP IN ENGLISH - It is said in the Slokas that corpse, demons and ghosts do not have guts to even touch the devotees. That means all forces that create fear goes dormant. The reality is that the person on whose head the hands of ALMIGHTY is placed, fear never dwells. The reason being that the fear that tries to create fear for devotees also trembles due to fear of GOD. Because the ALMIGHTY never tolerates any harm done to His devotee. (Proof for this is the instance of negligence shown by sage Durvasa towards King Ambarishji . To stop His own Sudarshan (a weapon of LORD) ALMIGHTY Himself refused sage Durvasa and at the end Durvasa apologized to King Ambarishji to pacify Sudarshan. The LORD said very clearly that my Sudarshan can only be pacified or stopped by my devotee because I am under the influence of my devotee, and hence my Sudarshan is also under the influence of my devotee.”)

One more citation to this fact is available in the life of Sant Tulsidas. Without knowing the presence of a ghost, Tulsidas used to pour water every morning to the roots of a tree. Having got satisfied with it, the ghost appeared before Sant Tulsidasji and told him to ask for something. Sant Tulsidasji asked for a means to have Darshan of ShriHanumanji. The ghost directed him to go to a nearby place where RamKatha was going on and said ShriHanumanji will be available there for certain, listening to the Katha. When Tulsidas asked him how you could say this with such a confidence, the demon said that they have to keep such information because they are prohibited to visit such places where GOD, GOD’s devotee and GOD’s devotion ( Katha- GOD tales, Kirtan- GOD prayers ) takes place.

TRANSLATION OF WRITE-UP IN ENGLISH - Devarshi ShriNaradji conveys a principle with proof that the ease with which you can attain GOD through devotion , you cannot attain HIM through austerity, or through the path of knowledge, or through deeds or by any other means.

The exact proof of this is the devotion of ShriGopijan. For the reason of devotion the LORD united with RadhaRani Mata in form of Shri RadhaKrishna.

The LORD had such great affection & admiration for ShriHanumanji due to His sheer devotion. Hence at each of the ShriRam temples ShriHanumanji sits beside LORD Ram, apart from those innumerable temples where ShriHanumanji could be seen in solo form ( where in the heart of ShriHanumanji resides Prabhu ShriRam – a testimony to it is the instance when ShriHanumanji tore his heart apart and showed a glimpse of the LORD in his heart.)

Glory of devotion is the greatest, as the LORD keeps the devotees on HIS eyelids.

The undernoted words are said by Devarshi ShriNaradji, who in the verse 54 of this same chapter is addressed by Sankadi Rishi as true disciples & follower of the Lord and as the eternal sun lighting the path of devotion.

Practicing devotion in present birth is the result of the noble deeds of innumerable births. In Kaliyug only devotion, devotion only is the essence of life. (This fact has been repeated twice to make an emphasis). By means of devotion the devotee is able to feel the presence of the Lord.

Such great Sankadi Rishi told Devarshi Naradji that other than Devotion whichever other means are created by saints are all painful means and at best can only lead to heaven.

TRANSLATION OF WRITE-UP IN ENGLISH - One can hardly find a more beautiful and clear attribute of SriMad Bhagwatji. In this citation, Srimad Bhagwatji’s verse is defined as the roar of a lion and defects of Kaliyuga is described as wolf, which is by all means accurate. At the sight of a lion, even at a distance, the wolf feels its life in its throat. Just as the fearful wolf gets away as the lion roars, the sins of Kaliyug fades away simply on the resonance created by the preachings of Srimad Bhagwatji.

Then imagine that situation, where Srimad Bhagwatji is continuously worshiped at home, where a routine of daily chanting of some verses of Srimad Bhagwatji is done, can the sins of Kalikal (modern era) stay there ? Absolutely not. The reason being that where Srimad Bhagwatji is present, the devotional nectar flows and Knowledge alongwith Reclusiveness marks a grand celebration of divine ecstasy.

TRANSLATION OF WRITE-UP IN ENGLISH - Shri Sankadi Rishi had explained the greatness of Srimad Bhagwatji in the above verses.

In the first verse it is evident that Bhakti (devotion) automatically evolves when one hears the divine deeds of the Lord. Here special emphasis is on word “automatically”. Bhakti (devotion) comes without any effort , merely by giving ears to hear the divine deeds of the Lord. This in itself is the easiest means to attain devotion. In the second verse it is said that Mukti (salvation) is attained automatically when devotion descends. It is because salvation is the disciple of devotion. Wherever devotion goes, salvation follows suit.

Third verse tells us that where there is devotion, the LORD dwells in such heart. This concept is to be understood in the following way that, LORD dwells in everyone’s heart. However, for reasons of Maya (illusion), we had closed the doors of our inner soul. Devotion opens that door and unites the soul with the LORD.

Fourth verse tells us that, until we pay heed to Srimad Bhagwatji very well, sin dwells in our body. The word “very well” needs special mention here. Even after hearing the Holy text, if devotion towards LORD does not surface and in the absence of it sins do not get washed away it is only because we had not “very well” paid attention while listening to the Holy test.

We must “very well” hear the Holy test narrating each divine deeds of LORD with great devotion so as to be able to visualize LORD’s grandeur, grace, mercy, kindness and love.

TRANSLATION OF WRITE-UP IN ENGLISH - This is precisely a sarcastic verse. One who had not heard the divine deeds of the LORD or have not stepped forward in the path of devotion has been labeled as “ a wicked “, “ a chandal ” and “ an ass ”. He has just wasted his human life and has been born only to cause labor pain to his mother unnecessarily. He is considered to be a living corpse and is labeled as a dead mass on the earth. Such a person is cursed like an animal.

What a prominent and convincing explanation- that bad omens can never threaten true devotees. Hurting the devotees or harming them is totally impossible and out of the question.

We must also understand this explanation in the opposite way. In whose heart LORD’s devotion resides, even though if he is poor by earthly means, he is rich and blessed not only on earth but in the Triloki, the entire universe (special mention for the word “Triloki”). Because of him, when Atmadev lost everything, he wept of his misfortune in front of SriGokaranji who gave him this great piece of advice.

Have a special focus on these lines – Look to the world like the fall of Day and Night which ceases continuously so that one is never attached to anything. Once desires are sidelined, reclusiveness comes in and thereafter we qualify for mellowing the juice of devotion. Bhagwat Dharma is the biggest of all. Always take shelter in it. Avoid temptation for earthly things, give up discussion of good & bad characters around us because it is meaningless. (But on the contrary we spend so much time in our pursuit for earthly things and in talking about others that we lose a major part of our human birth meaninglessly). What a clear interpretation. There are three ways prescribed upon the destruction of this human body. Then the golden teaching - in such mortal body why do not men work for attaining immortal benefits. To go towards achieving the oneness with the LORD through devotion is the best use of this human body. Human body and human life are a golden opportunity to attain oneness with LORD but sadly we lose this opportunity by engaging ourselves in unwanted issues.

It has not been prohibited anywhere against doing human acts, but we must not lose sight of the basic purpose of human life and thus upkeeping the priority of human life is what is clearly desired here.

We use our human body and human life for mortal benefits like accumulation of wealth, money etc. Does the wealth, money of the kings and conquerors of history still exist ? No, they have all been destroyed. But through devotion, trying to attain the ultimate thing - oneness with the LORD, is the immortal fruit of human life. Because this frees us from the cycle of birth & re-births and leads us to rest in the Holy feet of the LORD. These is the eternal, everlasting and non-destroyable fruit of human life.

The human body is mortal and we use it for accumulating mortal benefits like wealth, money etc. Achieving mortal benefits is not prohibited, but stress is laid to use human body and human life for attaining immortal benefits, which is, oneness with the LORD through devotion. This will lead us to salvation and free us from the cycle of birth & death.

TRANSLATION OF WRITE-UP IN ENGLISH - The tales of the LORD are termed here as pilgrimage . The tales of LORD washes away the dirt and makes our life purified. It's the clear view of saints and sages that if by tales of the LORD we are able to imbibe love for the LORD, devotion for LORD then we must be feel assured of attaining salvation.

Those ( saints and sages) who had travelled along this path for attaining oneness with LORD had told on the strength of their experience.

For example, we tried to touch the fire and felt the heat out of it. From our experience we tell the child not to do so, otherwise it will burn his fingers. If the child takes our advice his hands are saved from getting burnt.

If we too listen to the advice of saints and sages and lead the path towards the Lord, we will be saved from the heat of the worldly living and will be freed from the cycle of birth and death.
